0G

Rewarding long-term alignment without removing the option to exit.

Clique helped 0G build a mainnet distribution system that filtered sybils, reduced claim friction and gave users a choice between immediate liquidity and deeper participation through staking and time-based rewards.

“Clique helped us build a distribution that balanced very different user behaviors. Users who wanted liquidity could access it, while those willing to stay aligned with the network had clear ways to stake, wait and earn access to more of their allocation over time.”

THE STORY

About 0G

0G is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 network designed to support high-performance, data-intensive applications and onchain AI infrastructure.

Challenge

0G needed to distribute its token on mainnet after operating a testnet that had attracted significant sybil activity. The team needed a registration system capable of filtering eligible users and connecting activity across wallets and social identities before tokens reached claim.

The distribution also needed to balance liquidity with longer-term alignment. Some users would want to access their allocation and exit quickly, while others could be encouraged to retain liquidity and participate more deeply in the network. 0G wanted to support both behaviors without making the full supply immediately liquid on Day 1.

A previous node sale added another layer. Node recipients required a separate distribution mechanic that made part of their allocation available immediately while rewarding those willing to wait longer before claiming the remainder.

Solution

Clique built a multi-layer distribution system spanning registration, mainnet claims and a dedicated contract for node recipients.

The registration portal started with a wallet checker preview, then allowed users to connect a wallet, link social accounts and associate multiple EVM wallets with their profile. Eligibility was evaluated across the relevant data points, followed by mandatory KYC. The system integrated Blockpass and zkMe, giving users flexibility over the verification provider they used.

For mainnet claims, Clique integrated its paymaster service so eligible users could claim gaslessly without first acquiring 0G and bridging it to mainnet. Clique also built a Claim & Stake interface connected to the smart contract. A slider allowed users to decide what percentage of their allocation they wanted to receive liquid and what percentage they wanted to stake into GIMO, 0G’s native liquid staking token. The flow also offered different GIMO lock periods, including 30, 90 and 180 days.

Node recipients followed a separate alignment model. Clique supported 0G in developing the contracts for Part 1A and Part 1B. Part 1A made 10% of the node allocation available on Day 1. Part 1B represented a further 23% whose claimable amount increased according to how long the recipient waited. Claiming earlier provided access to only part of that tranche, while waiting longer progressively increased the amount available, reaching 100% after approximately one year.

Together, these mechanics gave 0G different ways to address sybil filtering, immediate liquidity and long-term alignment within the same broader distribution.

Results

Clique gave 0G a distribution architecture that could treat different user groups and behaviors differently instead of forcing every recipient through the same claim path.

The registration layer combined wallet, social, eligibility and KYC checks before distribution. On mainnet, gasless claims removed the need for users to already hold 0G, while Claim & Stake let recipients choose their own balance between liquidity and participation in GIMO.

For node recipients, the milestone-based contract preserved a Day 1 exit path while making a larger share of the additional allocation available to users willing to wait longer before claiming.
