“Clique helped us build a distribution that reflected how our network actually works. Instead of separating token vesting from user behavior, we were able to connect shorter vesting terms to continued TVL commitment while still giving users a clear alternative.”

THE STORY
About Solstice
Solstice is a yield-focused protocol built around onchain asset management and yield generation, with TVL serving as a core measure of participation in its ecosystem.
Challenge
Solstice had already built an active community through its Flares points campaign. At airdrop, those Flares would convert into SLX, with users segmented into cohorts based on the amount they had accumulated. Each cohort determined a different initial Day 1 unlock, with no cohort receiving 100% of its allocation immediately.
The challenge was to distribute SLX without turning that initial unlock into immediate sell pressure. Solstice wanted users to have access to liquidity, while creating stronger incentives to remain committed to the protocol. Because Solstice operates as a yield layer, maintaining TVL was particularly important to the distribution strategy.
The team therefore needed a system that could combine cohort-based unlocks, staking incentives and different vesting choices, including a shorter vesting option whose continuation depended on users maintaining TVL.
Solution
Clique built the registration and claims architecture around Solstice’s cohort and TVL-based distribution strategy.
During registration, users connected a Solana wallet, accepted the terms, viewed their cohort and its breakdown, then paid a small registration fee before completing registration.
At claim, users could view their allocation and decide what to do with their initial Day 1 unlock. They could claim it immediately or stake it for up to an additional 20% APY. For the remainder of the allocation, users chose between a three-month and nine-month vesting schedule. If they took no action, they were automatically placed into the nine-month option.
The three-month path introduced the more sophisticated mechanic. Clique implemented retractable vesting connected to Solstice’s TVL-tracking API. During the vesting period, the system monitored whether a user maintained TVL within a defined range relative to the TVL they held when vesting began. Users who remained within the required range could continue through the shorter vesting schedule. If their TVL moved outside that range, they risked forfeiting the remaining allocation.
The nine-month option provided a simpler alternative, with linear vesting and no TVL requirement. After the applicable cliff, unlocked tokens became available daily.
Results
Clique gave Solstice a distribution system that could treat vesting as an active mechanism rather than a fixed schedule.
The architecture combined cohort-based Day 1 unlocks with a choice between a shorter, TVL-dependent vesting path and a longer linear alternative. By connecting retractable vesting to Solstice’s TVL-tracking API, the distribution could respond to users’ continued commitment throughout the vesting period rather than only at the moment of claim.
The same experience also preserved user choice through immediate claiming, staking incentives and the nine-month default path.
